Tech Force Rhode Island will provide individuals with assessments, career coaching, technical training, business/soft skills training (such as project management, customer service, and communications), and employment services to enter or re-enter the Rhode Island IT workforce. To be eligible as a participant you must be:

  • Age: 18 years of age or older
  • Work Status: US citizen or able to work in the US
  • Employment Status: Long-term unemployed / other unemployed
  • Residency: RI resident or out of state resident who worked in and collected unemployment insurance through the state of RI 4
  • Education: Minimum of high school diploma or GED required

All eligible applicants will be reviewed and have the potential to be selected for the Tech Force Rhode Island program.

Tech Force Rhode Island programs offer different levels of intensive, short-term training that align with skill sets and the current IT knowledge base of participants. The training ultimately readies the
participants for job placement in their area of expertise.

Training programs focus on three tracks:

1. INTENSIVE COACHING AND JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE

  • One-to-one planning and coaching sessions
  • Job readiness training
  • Career path coaching and specialized skill training
  • Job placement assistance

2. SHORT OR LONG-TERM SKILLS TRAINING

  • Classroom setting and On-the-Job Training
  • Career path coaching and job readiness training
  • Short or long-term training in technical and/or business skills
  • Training to industry recognized credentials
  • Employment placement assistance in mid-high skill jobs

3. IT ON DEMAND SOFT SKILLS & TECHNICAL TRAINING

  • Designed with industry input
  • 16-week program including technical, business and experiential training sessions
  • Eight weeks of paid, experiential learning with a local IT provider
  • Mid-level skills job placement assistance

Tech Force Rhode Island will provide individuals with assessments, career coaching, technical training, business/soft skills training (such as project management, customer service, and communications), and employment services to enter or re-enter the Rhode Island IT workforce. Participants who are selected to enroll in the Tech Force Rhode Island program gain resources tailored specifically to their needs and skillset.

Upon being accepted into the program, participants are eligible to receive:

  • A dedicated career coach
  • Hands-on training in a specific area of Information Technology
  • Highly valued professional skills training
  • Networking opportunities with professionals in Rhode Island’s IT industry
  • Resume and job search assistance
  • Job placement assistance upon completion of training

Start by filling out the online application form, which can be found at: techforceri.org/apply. After your application form has been submitted we will contact you. Upon being eligible, you will receive a notification email to schedule your information and assessment session. After successful completion, selected applicants will be notified of acceptance into the program. Training sessions are on a rolling basis and occur each week.
